[edit] Information

Stephane Bern offers you a journey between land and sea, from the heights of the Jura to the shores of the Antilles, to evoke the exceptional destiny of a great liberator too little known: Toussaint Louverture. Originally from Africa, born a slave in the 18th century in the French colony of Saint-Domingue, present-day Haiti, Toussaint Louverture succeeded in escaping servitude to become a general and a politician of genius, who, from his island of Caribbean, has shown the way forward. When France commemorates the abolition of slavery every May 10th, it is largely thanks to him. Leader of men, seducer, visionary, Toussaint Louverture comes into the light at 50 years old and decides to launch his great project: freeing the slaves of Santo Domingo to make them full French citizens. But to achieve this, he must stand up against the established order.
