[edit] Information
An objective account of the Spanish civil war, setting out to explain the complicated political situation in Spain at the time - the complexity of a war which was fought simultaneously on many fronts - and placing the whole in context with the turmoil of political ideas in Europe before World War 2. Draws on archive material that became available only after the death of Franco in 1975: after 40 years of suppression and silence, the emotions of a nation are released.
