-- French title: " Karl Lagerfeld se dessine" -- "My childhood wish was not to be a child. I found being a child humiliating." The famous and extravagant designer tells his personal life and his career through drawings. Sitting at his desk, with block and markers in hand, Karl Lagerfeld, creative director of the House of Chanel since 1983, sketches the events of his life including his childhood, his home and his career. We think we know everything about the life of Karl Lagerfeld and yet he never told himself. The most extravagant character in the world of fashion has always cast a veil of modesty over his life. No official biography has ever been published, and the most eccentric figure in the world of fashion has always been discreet about his personal life. Here is the film in which Karl Lagerfeld draws his life. A funny self-portrait, both vivid and unique, much like the fashion titan himself, Karl Lagerfeld sketches the events of his life and his career, punctuated by comments and snippets of intimate stories, lively, tinged with self-mockery, and sometimes even emotion. Lagerfeld answers the interviewer's questions by drawing on the subject. He outlines everything from his childhood (his house, his parents, his original clothes already ...), his first steps in fashion designer in Paris with Balmain then Jean Patou, before he became the great ready-to-wear mercenary from 1965 and five years later met the man of his life, the dandy Jacques de Basher... What we don't know either is that on a daily basis, Karl Lagerfeld draws almost as much as he speaks... Karl Lagerfeld draws the house of his childhood, his father, his mother, his school, the Germany. He draws post-war Paris where he arrives alone, to pursue a career in the very closed world of fashion. From fashion he draws all the eras, the trends he has gone through and which he has marked with his genius. No one better than him can reproduce by drawing the fall of a dress, the precise silhouette of a decade. This unique autobiography makes it possible to focus our attention to the character: his style, his fashion, his image, without forgetting his ability to blend into the spirit of the great fashion houses for which he practiced his art. With his photographic memory, his sense of line and caricature, Karl Lagerfeld draws before our eyes not only his life but also his fierce will to succeed.
