A group of free-diving Russian journalists into the cruel global trade in wild sea mammals. With unprecedented access to the gangs involved in the capture and transportation of these creatures to supply the world's entertainment industry, the documentary reveals, for the first time, the shocking and heart-breaking conditions beluga whales that entertain audiences in our sea parks and aquariums are subjected to. This unprecedented investigation reveals the powerful forces behind this dark and secretive business. The programme also focuses on a legal battle surrounding 18 beluga whales destined for the American market, which has transformed attitudes towards the importation of wild sea mammals into the US forever.
